STOP GETTING LOST IN THE HERD!

Small team class size to keep the quality of the training at peak performance. You get the best possible class experience around.

I was in classes with 25 to 30 people at a time, drilled the same moves for an hour or more, and we had no idea if we were doing it right or what we needed to fix. The coach was always busy, or on their phone. Every time I come here…I feel like I’m getting a private lesson and personal attention on what I need to fix and improve.”

STOP BEING THE PUNCHING BAG!

Friendly atmosphere with teammates vested in your improvement. Not using you as a punching bag for their own advancement.

I was a paycheck at the other gym. They didn’t care that I was there. They used me as their training dummy while I was left to flounder. My regret is that I took so long to quit. I’m happy though as now I’ve found a better place.”

Having been a student of Randy’s for some time now, I believe that the biggest success is the overwhelming sense of community. Your peers become your friends. Everyone is willing to help everyone else. There is no ego. No one looks down on you because you’re a lower level, or because you’re new. In fact, you’re welcomed with open arms, and genuine excitement.

SAY NO TO FUNKY MONKEYS!

Clean and professional gym & teammates. Attend classes without worrying about nasty critters or odoriferous friends.

I came to learn legitimate fighting skills. Praying Mantis style Sanshou turned out to be everything I was looking for, and more. Later I began studying Brazilian jiujutsu here as well. In addition to a continuously improving skillset, I have also made friends, improved my lifestyle and fitness, and my eating habits. The place is clean, fellow students friendly, and the teachers are no BS. For all those reasons, I am still studying here. Get on the mat and put in the work - they’ll help you get the results you want.

“Challenging. Mentally Engaging. So much more than just a workout. That’s why I stuck with it over all these years.”

I’ve always enjoyed martial arts and I find it to be one of the best ways to maintain fitness without it seeming like a chore. Martial arts isn’t like doing time on a treadmill, you’re learning a new skill and it requires rapt attention while you’re doing it, so the time goes by quickly and the sense of accomplishment is greater. There’s also a sense of community and camaraderie at the good schools like this one.”

COACH’S CORNER:

Sparring/Rolling is the glue that binds.

When learning martial arts we usually have two choices:

  1. No Contact = No Skill

  2. Full Contact = Head Smashed, Body Broken, Lose Desire to Train/Learn.

I’ve been down both roads and neither end well. Needless to say, I’m not happy with either of these formats. I use a third path when coaching that gives us the skills, body, mind we want from martial arts training, without the lifelong injuries to prevent us from reaching our goals. If your goal is practical skills with the strength, confidence, and knowledge to defend yourself, or your family, then I have the answer.

Learn new impactful and practical skills. Get in shape. Welcoming and supportive training environment. Encouraged to try new things, explore with minimal risk, form new habits, and be able to ask questions. Getting to hang out with Lily (our dog).”

1 - SOLID Team Training

In my team training classes you will operate hand in hand with amazing, unique, like-minded individuals all reaching for a common goal helping one another to achieve these benchmarks. We work together to overcome challenges, becoming stronger, smarter, and more capable. Large class sizes are nice for a feeling of shared purpose, and meeting more people, but they absolutely suck for getting better at our skills, and leave a large gap for problems mention above to take hold. You will leave my class feeling like you learned/achieved something that day. Rather than listing aimlessly on stormy seas, know what you need to fix so you can leap forward faster. Be part of a solid friendly team vested in your success.

2 - HOW WE TRAIN

We are here to improve one another, not to hurt one another. Sparring, and grappling is a necessary part of boxing and grappling, and can be exciting and fun. When done right, sparring can produce amazing results, and be the best part of our training — the catalyst that transforms us into a highly capable warrior. If we’re white knuckling the steering wheel on the way to every class, what are we truly getting out of our training?

How we spar/grapple —

‘CONTROL’ — controlled sparring and grappling matches with your teammates allow you to test what you know once you reach the appropriate level. Incorporating newly discovered attacks, defenses, counters into your fighting skills without injuries piling up.

Gaining strength and confidence. Making new friendships.”
— Tim Van Sipe

‘STRESS’ — When we start training all we know is strength and speed which leads to stress for us and our partners. As human beings we do not truly learn under stress. We simply reinforce what we already know. Stress is good to test; horrible for improving skills, or diagnosing in the moment. To solve this, when we spar with one another we create an ideal environment that reduces stress so we can fix on the fly, and stay in control.

Sparring for Beginners — when you first start your training with me, you are introduced to sparring in a welcoming and graduated manner once you reach a level you are prepared to do so. This allows you to learn and grow without fear of being decimated or broken by someone with more experience.

The right amount of struggle is the key to success.
